Description

LWDH Surgical Services delivers several surgical programs: Orthopedics (Total knees, total hips, spine, lower extremity, upper extremity), Cataracts, Pediatric dental, Gynecology, Urology, General surgery/endoscopy. The department consists of three operating theatres, a six-bed Recovery Room, and a five-chair Day Surgery unit.

The Clinical Information Clerk 3 – Surgical Services provides clerical and administrative support/duties to the Surgical Services Department, ensuring efficient coordination of surgical bookings and slates with the PreOp Clinic, order entry of surgical supplies and data management reporting of the Operating Room. This role is responsible for managing communications with patients, physicians, and hospital staff; and supporting the scheduling, documentation, and data reporting of surgical procedures.

Maintains departmental supplies, submits implant orders and stock orders. Working closely with the Surgical Services Manager, team leads, and PreOp Clinic supervisor. This role contributes to the smooth operation of the units.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent
  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or relevant post-secondary program required or equivalent work experience
  • Candidates who do not possess the above post-secondary education may be considered with equivalent work experience and will be required to successfully complete approved Medical Terminology and Pharmacology courses within a specified timeframe
  •  
  • Medical Terminology Course required
  • Recent and related experience in a health office or medical clinic setting preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accurate data entry, with strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and experience with computer software including Microsoft Office, ORMED, UKG, Meditech, Metric Aide and Novari are an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office practices
  • Reliable attendance record
