The company specializes in industrial fabricating, millwright and rigging services; electrical, piping, installation, project management, maintenance, and inspection. We are looking for talented Estimator/Project Managers to join our trade teams:

  • Millwrighting & Rigging
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical (Piping)

 

Overview of Role

This role will include sales, estimating, coordinating, executing and managing service work and projects and is based in Kitchener, Ontario.

Reporting to the individual Trade Manager, you will coordinate with other Estimator/Project Managers in all trades, as well as vendors and other administrative, finance, fabrication and tool crib personnel.

 

Typical Work Environment:

  • Active construction or industrial project sites
  • Office-based estimating and coordinating
  • Travel between multiple Ontario locations
  • Occasional after-hours or emergency response

 

Job Duties:

  • Estimating, project management, scheduling, cost tracking, and invoicing.
  • Coordinate with the clients, other trades, office & field personnel, purchasing, health & safety, A/P, A/R, and yool crib.
  • Monitor and provide written updates on project costs, schedules, change orders, and deliverables to ensure projects stay on budget and on schedule.
  • Estimate material, labour, sub-contractor pricing, and all equipment costs to prepare and submit accurate and competitive quotations.
  • To bring decisive, focused leadership & be results driven.
  • Attend safety, training, sales, strategy and other meetings as required. 
  • As we offer a 24-hour, 7-day a-week service to our customers, you will be expected to respond positively at any given time when the need arises, even during off hours.
  • Attend customer job walks as necessary.
  • Contact suppliers and sub-contractors for quotations as required.
  • Create and maintain strong working relationships with clients, general contractors, employees, subcontractors & potential clients.
  • Actively pursue new business opportunities & potential customers
  • Visit job sites & investigate conditions on a regular basis as required.
  • Arrange for the necessary personnel to staff the project.
  • Understand and adhere to current labour agreements with local unions and other regulatory bodies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in a related skilled trade combined with 5+ years estimating experience.
  • Supervisory experience in the field is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of collective labour agreements and how to apply them on the job site.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings: structural steel, erection, architectural, electrical, process & instrument diagrams and all other drawings relevant to the specific trade for which you are applying.
  • Well organized, analytical, and possessing good math skills
  • Excellence in planning, how resources are to be acquired, and when the project should be completed.
  • Ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them and/or make allowance for them.
  • Excellence in the budgeting of financial resources
  • Ability to welcome feedback and use it to improve the quality of work.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced demanding industry.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Teams is an asset.
