Lead Technician- On-Highway Fleet

We are a locally owned waste management and sustainability company serving Greater Victoria since 2000. We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician – On-Highway Fleet to help maintain our commercial fleet and support our growing operations team.

We take pride in fostering a workplace built on safety, teamwork, accountability, and respect. Whether you're on the front lines serving customers, maintaining equipment, supporting operations, or working behind the scenes, every role plays an important part in our success.

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. We provide a company service truck, laptop, cell phone, coveralls, and a fully equipped shop.

 

Wage

  • Starting at $48/hour, flexible based on experience
  • Additional wage premiums available for Class 1 or Class 3 licences

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair trucks, trailers, and other commercial fleet assets
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors and service providers
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules and minimize fleet downtime
  • Review DVIRs and driver defect reports and prioritize repairs
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards
  • Track maintenance activities using fleet management software
  • Lead, mentor, and support technicians and apprentices
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance processes, tooling, and fleet reliability

 

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Technician Certification
  • Experience maintaining commercial on-highway fleets, preferably in waste or recycling operations
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle compliance requirements
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence (Class 3 preferred)
  • Experience with fleet maintenance software (Fleetio an asset)
  • Must supply personal hand and power tools relevant to the trade

 

Work Location

  • Home base: Saanichton, BC
  • Combination of shop and field service work
  • Supporting fleet operations across South Vancouver Island
