We are seeking a dedicated Field Superintendent specialized in hazmat and abatement to join our team on Vancouver Island. This role is vital in ensuring safe and effective removal of hazardous materials during construction and restoration projects, aligning with our company's mission to uphold safety standards and environmental integrity.

We’re looking for a motivated, safety-focused, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and managing projects efficiently from start to finish. Strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to build effective working relationships are essential for success in this role.

Please note this is a Hands-On Field Superintendent role.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate hazmat abatement activities on deconstruction sites.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Lead a team of workers in the safe handling and removal of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to identify potential hazards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of abatement procedures and waste disposal in conjunction with administration team.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan and execute remediation tasks.
  • Train team members on safety protocols and proper use of tools.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team

 

Qualifications

  • Level 3 WorkSafeBC approved Asbestos Awareness is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role, preferably in demolition, construction, or hazardous material abatement is preferred
  • Hands on experience in hazmat and asbestos removal work.
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety regulations related to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and demolition techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Ability to travel.
