Description

The Professional Standards and Practice Lead is responsible for promoting, developing and assuring high standards of clinical and professional practice across the organization.   They will work closely with clinical leaders to embed professional standards and improve care quality through coaching, education, and mentoring.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership in Clinical Standards:
    • Champion and oversee the implementation of professional standards, clinical guidelines, and accreditation standards
    • Collaborate with clinical leaders to promote evidence-based and best practice standards

 

  • Governance and Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor clinical practice and performance to ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures, best practice guidelines
    • Lead clinical audits and support action plans following incident investigations or reviews
    • Lead audits, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives related to clinical practice
    • Monitor compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements
    • Collaborate with Quality Risk and HR to align performance and operational goals for individuals and departments

 

  • Education and Practice Development:
    • Support the development of clinical staff through mentorship, training, and continuing professional development
    • Identify learning needs and help develop education plans in conjunction with the clinical educators and managers
    • Mentor and coach clinical staff to support development and retention, inclusive of IEN’s

 

  • Policy and Practice Development:
    • Develop, review, and implement policies and clinical practice guidelines
    • Act as a subject matter expert in clinical practice and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Current registration with a professional or regulatory body
  • Experience in senior clinical and /or leadership role
  • Experience improving clinical practice standards
  • Experience working with policies, audits, and quality improvements
  • Good understanding of professional standards, regulations and governance
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Reliable attendance record
